Overview
The Monday morning standup or team email that summarizes priorities for the week is valuable — but someone has to compile it. This automation pulls that data from Monday.com automatically and sends each team member a personalized digest of their own priorities, plus a manager-level summary of the whole team's week.
Before you start
- Monday.com account (Standard plan or higher)
- All tasks and deadlines tracked in Monday
- Team members with consistent Monday usage and up-to-date task assignments
Step-by-step guide (4 steps)
Set up the recurring digest automation in Monday
In Monday Automations, use the 'Recurring' automation template: 'Every Monday at 8am' → 'Send email to [team].' Configure the email to pull: this week's deadlines (grouped by assignee) and any overdue items. Use Monday's built-in board-to-email feature for this.
Create a personalized view per team member
Each team member should have a 'My Tasks This Week' view: filtered to their name, due date in next 7 days, sorted by priority. This is the source for their personal Monday digest. Direct them to this view in the email.
Build the manager summary digest via Zapier
For a richer manager digest: use Zapier with a Monday 'Search Items' action every Monday morning. Filter for: items due this week, items overdue, items with status = Stuck. Format into an email or Slack message to the team lead.
Include a 'capacity check' in the manager digest: count total items due this week per person. If someone has 15 items and another has 3, redistribution is needed before the week starts.
Add a wins section from last week
Pull items that were marked Done in the last 7 days and include a 'Completed last week' section at the top of the digest. This creates a culture of visible progress and recognition — team members see their own work acknowledged automatically.
What you'll get
Team starts every week with a clear picture of priorities
Managers spot bottlenecks and overloads before they cause problems
Wins section creates culture of visible progress
Reduces Monday morning 'what should I work on?' conversations
Common mistakes to avoid
Sending the same digest to everyone (personalize by role or team)
Not including overdue items (the digest becomes optimistic noise without accountability)
Skipping the wins section (this is the most morale-boosting part)
