Overview
This is the simplest Zap on this site and possibly the most impactful for team morale. When a Stripe payment succeeds, Zapier fires a Slack message to your #wins channel with the customer name, amount, and product. It sounds small until you're in a team meeting and hear that Slack ding — everyone knows the business is growing. It also gives leadership real-time revenue visibility without logging into Stripe.
Before you start
- Stripe account with at least one active product
- Zapier account (free plan works)
- Slack workspace with a #wins or #sales channel
Step-by-step guide (4 steps)
Create a new Zap in Zapier
Log into Zapier and click 'Create Zap.' Select Stripe as the trigger app, then choose 'New Payment' or 'New Charge' as the trigger event.
Filter for successful payments only
Add a Filter step: 'Only continue if Status = succeeded.' This prevents failed payment attempts from triggering the celebration notification.
Configure the Slack action
Add Slack as the action. Select 'Send Channel Message.' Choose your #wins or #sales channel.
Use emoji to make the message pop: '💸 New payment! [Customer Name] just paid $[Amount] for [Product]'
Add a second action for big deals (optional)
Add a Paths step: if payment amount > $500, also send a direct Slack message to the founder/CEO. Custom notifications for milestone deals.
What you'll get
Real-time revenue visibility for the whole team
Morale boost — celebrating wins is powerful
No more logging into Stripe to check payments
Easy to add other triggers (refunds, disputes)
Common mistakes to avoid
Not filtering for 'succeeded' payments — you'll get failed charge notifications
Posting to a channel nobody watches
Not testing with a real $1 test charge before going live
